Permalink 03.17.12 Home alone on a Saturday afternoon. And given that I’ve been missing playing the guitar these past few days - especially when I listened to my songs one night at work - I grabbed the opportunity and recorded two covers and new versions of two songs I wrote.
The song the I wrote for grandpa is as painful as always. The line “I try to tell myself this ain’t true” always causes a pang in my heart whenever I listen to the song.
I made a cover of Torete, with a crappy intro. I also did Someone Like You which I didn’t take seriously, pausing to scroll the chords page on Ultimate-Guitar.com.
And I tried doing another version of another song I wrote. I wrote two verses during my last year in college. I found the lyrics in a notebook months after graduation, finished it then recorded it.
Yes, I do record myself singing sometimes. But no, I don’t have a good voice. I don’t even think I sing that well. I used to hate listening to my records. But one thing that makes me listen to them, other than wanting to criticize myself, is to hear how I sang the song at the time of recording. How I felt about the song at that moment. And how hard I tried to sing my heart out.

Mom found an old wallet of mine, and I found these photos. Mostly from my friends waaaay back in gradeschool. There were no camera phones yet that time, so we had this habit of getting our photo taken in a studio everytime we go to the mall. Technology advances so fast, indeed. I can’t remember the last time I went to a studio just to have a photo with my friends.

That moment when you stare blankly at the last sentences, when you reread the whole page, when you wish there are more words to read.
Permalink 03.11.12 So I told my mom about that fried leaf we had @ Sentro. I said it was a heart-shaped leaf. She said it could be just kangkong (I don’t know what’s this in English). Yesterday she showed me a good kangkong leaf and it was indeed heart-shaped! I’ve been eating this leaf for a long time now and I don’t even know it’s real shape. Such a shame. Anyway, so we tried coating it and frying it and voila! Crispy fried kangkong leaves! :)
